New Medallist Scheme
"The British Art Medal Society’s ‘New Medallist’ scheme is intended to provide a framework by which artists based in Britain and Ireland who are relatively new to medal-making can develop their interest in the medal as a vehicle of artistic expression. Its aim is to deepen and broaden the selected artists’ knowledge of the medal and expand their awareness of the medium’s possibilities."
As a part of the New Medallist Scheme I have part taken in a
Medal Making course in Bulgaria under the lead of Bogomil Nikolov.
Degree Show Medals
This work focuses on oppression and capitalist exploitation within Scotland. I seek to highlight how people, land and resources have been abused through history by the ruling class.
The series of bronze medals, each highlight moments in history where the force of capitalism was greater than the organisation of people. It has been inspired the John McGarath’s play The Cheviot, the Stag and the Black, Black Oil – which represents an honest and playful retelling of Scotland’s history.
